BHM was contracted by Lucayan Tropical Produce Ltd for the construction of a six acre state of the art hydroponic farm, the first of its kind in the Bahamas.

Lucayan Tropical Produce was fonnad with the aim of improving the quality of produce available in the Bahamas. The construction of a Hydroponic Greenhouse by BHM allowed this aim to be achieved. “Hydroponic” fanning involves innovative techniques where solution is used rather than soil. This method isolates the plant from the ground, thereby ellmlnating sources of disease. This results in significant gains in terms of both yield and quality of produce for example soil typically produces 5-10 tonnes of tomato per acre per annum, hydroponic can exceed 200 tonnes per acre per annum.
The works for this innovative $12 million project included:
