Sandypoint Sea Defence Roadworks
Client: Government of the Bahamas
As part of wider infrastructure upgrades on Abaco Island, BHM was awarded the sea defense works to prevent land erosion and stabilize the shoreline, by the construction of approx 3,100ft of cast in situ sea wall, Armour stone revetment, the reconstruction & re-vegitation of sand dunes, together with back of wall roadway construction.
Scope of works included:
- Bulk Earthworks
- Shaping and grading
- Localized areas of shoreline protection with in-site concrete wall, Armour stone rip rap and sand dune rehabilitation and vegetation
- Soil stabilization and reinforced geotextile
- Traffic management to ensure works carried out safely
