Shirley Street Water & Sewage Rehabilitation

BHM carried out the majority of the works under out of hours and traffic management restrictions.

Client: Ministry for Public Works and Transport Bahamas

With a sewerage system originating back to 1926, the infrastructure within Shirley St was in urgent need of upgrade and repair. The Water and Sewerage Corporation (WSC) estimated that 90% of leaks were occurring via the water service lines, highlighting the need for replacement. It was anticipated that the upgrades carried out by BHM would result in cost savings totaling several million dollars per annum. In addition, the paving to Shirley Street also required improvement which BHM carried out in conjunction with the water service and sewerage works.

To minimize disruption to the general public, BHM carried out the majority of the works under out of hours and traffic management restrictions. The full scope of works included;
