Abaco has around 90,000 visitors every year; Marsh Harbour Airport is the second busiest airport in the country and one of the busiest airports in the entire Caribbean region. The building of the new Marsh Harbour airport terminal, air traffic control tower and fire/ crash rescue facility and new runway was designed to enhance Marsh Harbour Airport’s capacity to provide quality service to the growing number of Abaco residents and visitors.
BHM was appointed as a major specialist subcontractor to support and collaborate with the main contractor FES Construction. The project included the construction of a new parallel runway, including site clearance, bulk earthworks, HMA paving, runway lighting, signage and approach lighting. It also required the rehabilitation and extension of the existing runway and associated taxiway links.
