Airports and Runways

Hog Cay Airport

BHM was appointed Main Contractor for the runway and apron works.

Client: Hog Cay Exuma Corporation

The existing Hog Cay chip & sand seal Airstrip was in poor condition and the airfield did not comply or allow international regulations for flight operation. The Contractor was required to establish offices, Asphalt Plant & accommodation, in order to operate as stand alone Contractor,
working closely with the Client, on this remote island.

BHM was appointed Main Contractor for the runway and apron works. The project included major bulk excavation to establish flight lines and to provide fill for the bulk earthworks for a new runway built partially on reclaimed land. Also included in the project are surface dressing, shore protection, sand seal road, fencing and traffic marking works. Due to the environmentally sensitive nature of the surroundings a high degree of environmental compliance was established on the project.
